The house

Louis De Poortere is recognized for its innovative woven rugs that combine Belgian craftsmanship with contemporary design: artistic patterns, monochromatic compositions, and environmentally conscious production that balance aesthetics, performance, and sustainability.

Brand DNA

Carpet Society is broader than Louis De Poortere. Carpet Society brings together the expertise of ten European companies and brands across rugs and carpets, while Louis De Poortere is the historic Belgian rug manufacturer founded in 1929 and based in Mouscron. This makes the relationship particularly interesting for Alto because it can eventually provide access not only to decorative rugs but to a much deeper contract and bespoke carpet expertise, including Wilton, Axminster, mechanical flat weave, hand tufting, hand knotting, handloom and kilim techniques.

Best sellers

Two subfamilies. ECORUGS (Louis De Poortere): the 2026 Ecorugs collection combines expressive contemporary design with flatweave polyester construction, stain resistance and machine washability; custom sizing on selected designs; part of the Ecorugs universe extends to indoor-outdoor use. Current collections and design directions include Sendai, Drop, Kanji, Aquarelle, Lagoon, Zen Garden, Brush, Marble, Ribbon, Berber, Stones, Chess and Cubik. MONOCHROMES (Louis De Poortere × Folkform): a more architectural proposition designed with Stockholm studio Folkform, exploring jute and wool through Wilton weaving in 13 strong monochromatic colors; the pieces work both as floor rugs and wall decoration.

Carpet Society and Louis De Poortere bring Alto Design Studio a powerful new combination of decorative rugs, European manufacturing expertise, circular innovation and sophisticated contract flooring solutions.
